Opportunity Funds Program
The purpose of the Opportunity program is to support talented students with strong potential for receiving financial assistance from U.S. universities, though they lack the funding to pay for fees associated with the application process.
EducationUSA staff work closely with students through regularly scheduled seminars and meetings, assisting them throughout the application process.
Opportunity Fund Program Information
Each year students from more than 50 countries, including Belarus, may be eligible to receive Opportunity support. More than 100 U.S. colleges and universities have enrolled Opportunity participants since 2006.
The Opportunity program finances the cost of the application process, including registration fees for required standardized examinations. Program staff expect a sincere commitment from participants.
Each Opportunity Funds participant undergoes a selective process of evaluation by EducationUSA staff, the Regional Educational Advising Coordinator (REAC), and the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy. It is expected that in addition to academic abilities, Opportunity Funds students will bring cultural and socio-economic diversity to U.S. campuses.
To be accepted into the program students must meet basic requirements for participation and take active part in either the Competitive College Club or the Graduate Students Advising cohorts.
